Airmaster customers leading the way in Green Star projects for 2016

Updated: Nov 23, 2018

The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) has announced an 80% increase in completed Green Star projects for 2016, with Airmaster customers among the leading contributors to this success.

The GBCA certified a total of 401 Green Star projects in 2016, compared with 223 in 2015.

Romilly Madew, Chief Executive Officer of the GBCA, says the acceleration in certifications is in part due to the rapid uptake of the Green Star – Performance rating tool, which assesses the operational performance of existing buildings.

“The industry’s leaders all understand that achieving Green Star ratings for their portfolios demonstrates transparency and accountability to shareholders. For the investment community, sustainability is now inextricably linked with risk management, reputation and reward – and we are seeing an increase in Green Star ratings accordingly,” Ms Madew says.

Airmaster customers showing certification leadership

Of the 401 projects, Vicinity Centres rated 93 Green Star projects in 2016.

Airmaster provides maintenance services for Vicinity’s HVAC Systems at their portfolio of 91 shopping centres across Australia.

“The leaders at Vicinity Centres now have a clear benchmark as they embark on an upgrade program, and have demonstrated to shareholders and customers that they are serious about sustainability,” Ms Madew says.

To help Vicinity manage and maintain their sustainability benchmark, Airmaster’s eValuate Asset Management software is deployed across the portfolio, ensuring effective lifecycle management for their over 15,000 assets.

Along with Vicinity Centres, another Airmaster customer in DEXUS Property Group certified 79 projects. The University of Tasmania was also acknowledged by the GBCA through their ongoing commitment to delivering sustainable learning spaces and laboratories.

“Portfolio certification has really reshaped the way companies think about sustainability this year,” Ms Madew adds.

According to the GBCA, more than 636,000 Australians now work in Green Star-rated office buildings, and 1.2 million people visit a Green Star-rated shopping centre each day.
