Mechanical Plant Upgrade Sees 500-ton Crane Lift

A Mechanical Upgrade at Birkenhead Point Shopping Centre saw Airmaster involved in a 500-ton crane lift to remove existing mechanical plant equipment making way for the new.

Located in Sydney's inner western suburbs, Birkenhead Point Brand Outlet is one of the largest and oldest outlet centres in Sydney. Owned and operated by Mirvac, they engaged in Airmaster's services to provide a mechanical plant upgrade. The existing equipment was nearing end of life and required complete replacement. A 500-ton crane lift was required, in order to swap out the equipment. While navigating narrow roads, the crane lift was performed overnight to help reduce the impact of closing surrounding roads. Melrose Cranes and Nova Engineering helped to hoist equipment onto the roof of the centre including a GeoClima air-cooled tower, BAC cooling tower and Temperzone air-cooled units. These works are part of a large-scale mechanical upgrade with Airmaster currently taking on further equipment installations and replacements. Once completed, the result will see energy efficient cooling systems across the centre, just in time for summer.
