Project Review: Mechanical Upgrade at 4 Treasury Place, Melbourne

Airmaster recently completed works at the Commonwealth Offices Building, located at 4 Treasury Place in East Melbourne. Currently serviced by Airmaster, Ventia engaged Airmaster to conduct mechanical project works to upgrade the ageing existing equipment.

The Commonwealth Offices Building is an iconic, heritage-listed government building built in 1911/1912, and is where the Melbourne Commonwealth Parliament Offices are housed.

The Airmaster Projects, Drafting, Engineering, Commissioning, Automation departments worked alongside I-Mech Electrical, Millennium Rigging, Advanced Cranes and principal builder AMA Projects to deliver the project for Ventia.

The project commenced with an initial crane lift removing the existing chiller, along with two existing chill water pump sets, and associated materials from the roof top open plant deck.

A second crane-lift subsequently lifted out further equipment, including two existing boilers (which were dismantled into pieces), two existing boiler pump sets, as well as associated materials and removal of rubbish. The crane then lifted in a new steel structure for the chiller plant, six new modular boilers, two new boiler pump sets, two new chiller pump sets, five new modular chillers, one new MSSB switchboard and associated materials.

The below pictures show the replacement and relocation of the equipment at work.
